These are our primary sources that we are going to use on our CD cover. This is the original version. Once i had drawn this picture, i have took a photo of it on my phone, and then added different effects. We have chosen to draw this picture because it follows our research on Sirens that we have done earlier on. The next steps are to put the images on the iMac, so that we can use the photoshop to edit it to perfection that suits a real life CD cover. We may also use this image on our website too. Sirens background
Our band that we have chosen is called "The Sound of The Sirens", so we were interested in what exactly Sirens were, and hope that it will give us some inspiration.
In Greek mythology, Sirens were very dangerous but beautiful creatures, portrayed as femma fatales (mysterious and seductive woman) who lured nearby sailors with their enchanting music and voices to shipwreck on the rocky coast of their island.

When the Sirens were given the name of their own, they were considered the daughters of the river god Achelous. He was the patron deity of the "'silver-swirling' Achelous River, which is actually the largest river of Greece.
However, the Roman wrote linked the Sirens more closely to the sea, as daughters of Phorcys. This God was hidden in the dangerous depts of the sea.Basic Information

Starburst of emotions?
As Ian McEwan would say in his novel "On Chesil Beach", "The word was a starburst in the night sky", exploring the theme of freedom and release.
We have decided that we want to put this 'burst' into our music video too, by using fireworks at the end of the productions. This will represent, similarly, a woman that has been through so much in life and she got to the point of 'bursting out' her emotions and the falling sparks after the explosion of the firework could represent calmness and peace.
This is how Katy Perry has done this.

- High angle shot from the feet - guitar then zooms into the picture which will be on the guitar.
- From the last picture of the performers - it slowly zooms out to mid shot (and we are going to put an effect in it to show the transition between and performance to the narrative and showing both performers).
- Burst effect of pictures of couples in their house.
- The two characters are going to act like a couple but the man does something that annoys the women off and she storm off - The camera zooms to mid shot of shouting at each other.
- But before she leaves the room she look back at him like to say 'im done with you'.
- There is going to be a long shot for when the camera follows the female actor upstairs into her bedroom.
- Before she enters the room, she takes a breath, places her hand on the door handle (close-up) and step in.
- A mid shot (panning) a girl in a random field with different clothes (dress and sandals)
- The camera will then slowly zooms out as she looks around and smiles with a sigh of relief
- The music will begin as soon as she is in the field and the shot will go to performers playing and singing the first line of the song.
- Goes back to long shot of actor running through the field, spinning and laughing.

Shots- try outs
Here, we are trying out some shots and angles that would work the best for out first part of the music video. This is a long shot (because we can see the whole of Laura's body) of Laura walking towards the door.
A mid shot of Laura walking towards the door.
We have done these range of shots to see which would work the best and from which angles.
Next, we are going to show 'try out' videos that we have also done. These are a range of videos that have been taken with 3 different cameras. My camera, with the 'burst' effect, creating lots of shots within the space of seconds, Shannone's camera that has also done a 'burst' effect and the school camera that we used for simple videoing.

Mise en scene
Looking at other artists and the 'Sound of the Sirens' themselves, we have decided to follow their foot steps and stay conventional to folk genre. We have decided to go for the girly and gentle look.
And the girly shoes..
The male is going to wear jeans, shoes and a nice shirt.

The white shirt- t-shirt will make the male actor and the female actor match so that the audience know that they are a couple. The jeans will keep a 'down to earth' look, making the song seem more comfortable and calm.

Make up is going to be natural and pretty to stay committed to the genre and no extreme hairstyles!
We were thinking about having a location somewhere calm where there aren't many people about - possibly a field. The lighting in that lcoation needs to be natural and bright- on a rainy day, we are going to have to go indoors and play around with the lighting there.. We also thought that shadows may work well for this genre and lyrics to emphasize on the jelousy that is shown through out the song.
This is just one of the locations that we may use. This field is next to the "Fox Wood" in Lincolnshire.
We are however going to use Laura's house too ..

Guitar is going to be essential- but is not a problem because both me and Shannon have got one.

We have researched similar artists that specialise in the folk/ acoustic genre.
Emeli Sande
Emeli Sande is one of our similar artists becasue her lyrics are about love and have a certain message to put a cross through her songs.
Adele
Adele is singing about love and her songs are quite emotional. These two artists are similar too; The clothing is similar and the tone of this song is similar. Adele's balck and white video adds to the
emotional tone of this song.

Research and planning-practice shots
Our actors
We have taken these pictures to try out what we are going to do at the beginning of our music promo. The black and white colour scheme is staying because it emphasizes on the fact that it is not part of the actual music. Also, 96% of our target audience had said that they like an introductionary story at the beginning.

Research and planning- first ideas
1st basic idea that we have all agreed on.
- A young couple have just moved into their first house together
- Everything is on edge, both unsure about the relationship but are too afraid to say anything because they might loose each other
- But surely if you aren't happy with something, you would do something about it, or would you?
- The concept of the film 'Narnia'
- A wooden wardrobe which leads to another world where she is free from her relationship and the drama within it with her partner.
- Pictures of a happy couple flashing on the screen
- Then the pictures start to have a faster pace the also the pictures start to show anger and perhaps violence.
- The two bullet points above are explanations of the start of the video that we are going to create and it shows how not all relationships are meant to be and also how things and people change within the relationship especially if the relationship to long term.
- After the pictures (about 20 seconds in), the pictures are going to come alive and this leads the women to go into the empty room with only a wardrobe in it at the back of the room
- As soon as she enters, a whoosh of cold wind hits her... something happening
- She investigates the wardrobe, opens it, steps in and gets claustrophobic (fear of having no escape and being closed in small spaces) and begins to panic
- Exits from the back and steps out into the fields with loads of colourful flowers.
- She is not sure about the idea (and she has confused look on her face) and turns around and tries to step back in the wardrobe, feels nothing, turns around, wardrobe has gone.
- She feels free!
- Music begins 0 - 10 seconds (no lyrics) into the video she runs as fast as she can with a huge grin on her face to show she is happy and feels free from everything.
- 11 seconds into the song, the singing begins and she instantly stop to a holt and the setting/place changes to the girls singing the first verse of the song.
