What have you learned from your audience feedback?
We have undertaken many ways to research
our target market and our audience. To find out what age we should aim our
music video to, we have done a questionnaire asking what age group listens to
folk music.
The strengths and weaknesses of a
questionnaire are:
It gives us a clear indication in
percentage/numbers of the people that enjoy/don’t enjoy music videos, what TV
channels they are watching the most and more.
However, it does not provide information
such as people’s thoughts and feelings and more in depth information in general
to help us satisfy our audience. Also,
although we have tried to give our questionnaires to broad number of people
with different ages, it could not be avoided to give most of the questionnaire
to people our ages.
We have
used Facebook and questionnaire to get audience feedback. These were some of
the feedback given back to us.
Facebook was a great and easy way to get a
quick audience feedback. Especially because we have people on Facebook that
have commented on this that are our ages and also our target audience. We have
also got one person that has commented who is completely biased as she has not
seen us working on this production at all and she too gave us a fantastic
comment.
However the problem with this was that
although some of the people’s comments were unbiased, they are still our
‘friends’ on Facebook and hence, they may not say any negative comments.
Our research influenced our production
because:
We have picked actors so that they match
our target market. This is because our actors are of the same age as our target
audience so they can relate to one another.

-More audience say that they like a lot of performance in a
music promo and thus, we added more performance.

We have also sent the band itself a link to our
finished production, but unfortunately, they have not yet responded back via
e-mail.
